Was this really written in 1919?

On October 14th 2023, a mere 7 days after the infamous atrocity in Israel, the above Harvard students were out protesting the “genocide in Gaza”. Never mind that the full ground invasion started nearly 2 weeks LATER; facts have never detained the “most intelligent young people in America”.

We live in a world where words are given fake meanings, Israel is told to disarm in the name of peace, “social progress” trumps truth and our civilization is losing reason and faith. In this, possibly my favourite poem, the author takes aim at the equivalent failings in his own time and shocks the reader out of their complacency.

I will say no more. I will reveal no name nor title. For what awaits you is 3 minutes and forty-seven seconds of truth telling which is as powerful today as it was 106 years ago. Indeed it may be more powerful.
